Australian Pop Princess, Kylie Minogue, recently released the song into the blue as a continuation of her music career. I did not like it to begin with, I thought it was generic and uninteresting, however after hearing it everywhere I found myself wanting to listen to it more and more. It is definitely a catchy song that becomes better after a few listens, arguably like most of Minogue’s music.

The song features references to sex and sounds pretty much like the exact song we would expect from Kylie. It is repetitive, with a catchy beat and well it’s a pop song! Interestingly, Kylie is one on the few pop stars to have a continually successful career in music after the age of 40 putting her in the ranks of Cher and Madonna. For being 45 Kylie Minogue still sounds and looks as amazing as she ever did, if I hadn’t looked it up I’d say she was in her 30’s.

I would go as far as saying it is the best pop song of the year, because it gets better with every listen and compared to other pop artists around right now it feels more original and fun. You could say that Kylie has made. Return to save pop music and to show people why she is still the pop princess, but in an extreme way. Her vocals have never sounded better and she manages to mix modern pop with classic pop surprisingly well.

Into the blue isn’t Kylie’s best song, but I think it is a really great pop song considering I normally dislike songs of this type and can’t get this one out of my head, if she keeps producing content like this she will be around for a lot longer, and I am excited to see what she will produce in the future.

What do you think of into the blue?
