You can't force creativity

Creativity is something that comes naturally to us. Some of us get it more than others and some barely get it at all, but we all have it in us somewhere – even if it is deep in the depths of our minds. Personally my creativity comes and goes as it pleases, which is never a good thing if you work in the creative industries. Today I woke up feeling particularly creative.

In fact I generally do feel particularly creative on the days I attend my youth forum. I guess my creativity comes when I am doing things I love and enjoy. The worst thing you can do, however, is force creativity – you only end up with unsatisfactory pieces of work that make you feel rubbish at what you do.
If you are having an uncreative day the best thing to do is your dishes or ironing or any other menial task…it is generally then that your creativity sparks up again and you can get right back in to the swing of things. Today I felt so creative I even tried my hand a poetry, it wasn’t the best but it was still better than any poetry I have tried in the past.
Some days you wake up feeling more creative than usual and on those days you have to take creativities hand and escort it through your outlets. Normally I write, take photographs or draw, but today I got to try out some collage – this is what happened.

This is definitely the best thing i have ever created with those types of materials and my hands. I have never taken to collage in the past, but I would get used to it. My creativity allowed me to do this because I never force it, I let it all flow out naturally and in the right circumstances I can find that little glimmer of reassurance that my work is good.
