It’s the thought that counts

Over the last couple of weeks I have had people apologising to me because they couldn’t be with me on my birthday, or because they didn’t know what to get me for my birthday. This is absolutely NO problem to me, I don’t expect much. In fact I don’t expect presents from people at all. I don’t give to receive.

The most important thing to me is that people remember when my birthday is and tell me happy birthday when it comes, that is enough for me. The small effort to send me two words is all I need to feel appreciated, and the people who do get me presents are just extra generous and I really really appreciate every single thing I receive.

Stop worrying about not being here on my birthday, or not having anything to give me for my birthday – material possessions are not the most important things in my life and have you heard of rain checks?
Most people have substituted both of these options with cards which I also really appreciate, particularly the amusing ones.

That is my favourite. I have had a brilliant day relaxing and watching television with my mum, which is all I wanted. Tomorrow I am going to take photographs somewhere pretty 🙂 you will get to see the pictures tomorrow!
