Teddy

Jodie Paterson

You don’t know me
The real me you will never see
Too busy doing nothing, yet again you flee
You’ve never even stopped for tea

You give me a tenner to make amends
My love has never been one to bend
Once again our journey meets a premature end
It’s okay, I’d rather be with friends

Birthdays have come and gone
The cards are yet again not drawn
Something I will never act on
Your absence only makes me yawn

One more year will be no different
We will only be more distant
Now that I’m no longer infant
I would drop you in an instant
