Imperfect Perfections

People come in all shapes, sizes, coats and skins but the brilliant thing about us all is that we are all INDIVIDUAL and not a whole shipment of clones sent to earth to achieve the same things. In the past I have referred to people as “perfect” but in actuality no body is “perfect” we all have our flaws whether they are hidden or not making no one in the world “perfect”. What I should have said is that they are “imperfectly perfect in my opinion”.

Individuality is such a special thing to have, so special that I almost feel bad for trying to abandon it all to fit in to a group of people who lost theirs the minute they discovered they could. It is worryingly easy to mould yourself in to something you are not for other people and this scares me because there are thousands of people, if not millions, out there just hiding their wonderful selves so that other people consider them perfect.

Recently I have found myself embracing my faults for example: I am one of the clumsiest people I know, I mean I fall over when standing still, and normally if I ever fell down I would just feel embarrassed and run off somewhere to hide….now I make jokes and laugh with people. One of the quirkiest things about me is my humor which tends to make an appearance when I am nervous and my jokes often end up becoming inappropriate or people just don’t understand them – I would consider this my most imperfect trait, but strangely I have finally found myself with people who embrace it and love that side of me, one of the things that another person would consider my best trait is my least favourite about me and let me tell you, that is one of the biggest confidence boosters of all. Today I was at my youth forum and normally I tone down my humor there due to not knowing how they will take it, but they laughed more than anyone else does at my jokes which really made me feel like part of a wonderful small community of people who accept me just as much as I accept them.

We are all imperfectly perfect because that one imperfect thing you believe you have is the one thing someone else thinks is perfect – often it is what they are jealous off and want themselves which seems a little insane at first but eventually you will learn to appreciate and embrace it as I did. Embrace the wonderful thing that makes us a unique species – we have the brain power and will to be individual, self sufficient and make a difference in this otherwise pointless planet. With out us earth would be filled with animals that are all the same, there would be no man made things like buildings only burrows and nests etc. Individuality helps us put a unique mark on the man made portion of earth which is so meaningful and important – not something to let go off.

I will end this post with a quote by one of my favourite people “One persons craziness is another persons reality” – Tim Burton
