Sometimes it can be difficult to even get up in the morning, never mind function for a whole day and make decisions affecting your present and future life. This is where a little bit of self motivation is required to keep you going and staying relatively positive no matter how difficult life is becoming. This is particularly important when it comes to feeling accomplished. If you aren’t motivated, you won’t feel accomplished and therefore will be in a naturally lower mood (Just like in The Sims).
I am certainly no expert in this (ask my colleagues at work..), in fact I would go as far as saying that self motivation is a real struggle for me on a day to day basis. On occasion it’s difficult to even get out of bed in the morning, but I am sure everyone gets those days where it feels unbearable to get up and face the world. Motivation is possibly the most difficult thing to get and I am not here to tell you how to get it, as I do not have the answers. I do, however, have some advice that could help you, but as I said I am definitely not an expert so please please don’t take my work for it.
Make encouraging friends. If you have someone pushing you to better yourself, you will inevitably start feeling more motivated due to people believing you can do the things you aspire to do. This is 100% the only reason I have managed to run this blog for over two years. As my long time followers will know I have gone through months where I have barely blogged, if at all, but I always come back to it because my friends encourage me to do the things I want to be successful in and the things I enjoy – my blog comes under both of these categories.
Don’t be afraid to ask. A lot of my loss of motivation comes from the fear of asking people to help me gain what I want. If you push that aside and speak up you will feel so much better, like a weight has been taken off your shoulders and you will nine times out of ten receive help from someone to help you achieve a goal. It can be something as small as “Make sure I do this super cool thing by the end of the year” and I can almost guarantee that they will help you, in any way they can, achieve what you want to do.
Be encouraging and help other. As with the above paragraphs you have to offer that to others too. Have you ever heard the expressions “Treat others how you wish to be treated”? The same applies for if you want people to motivate you.
My suggestions so far have not necessarily been “Self” motivation, but they will help. To motivate yourself I would suggest that the best way would be to set yourself goals of when you wish to achieve something, have an objective. For example, I have decided to blog every day of August with the objective of gaining more views and followers and re-gaining my passion for blogging. So far I have only missed one day and that was due to prior commitments. Because I have the desire to be a successful blogger I have found myself more inclined to get motivated every single day to write a new post.
Yes it really is as simple as that for me, but can be very difficult. If you find a good routine or make an achievable goal I am certain motivation will pop up behind you giving you a boost along the way.
