Changing My Look

In my 22 years I’ve never really had a “style” (not a good one anyway), but I think I am really starting to get the hang of dressing for myself and not the way people expect me to dress. This means I feel comfier and genuinely look better because I am enjoying the clothes I am wearing. I used to shy away from any clothes that were “girly”, but now I embrace them because it’s who I am. I like dresses with flowers on them and pink hats.

I think it’s important to find YOUR style, because you have to be comfortable in yourself and your clothes and once you’ve found the style you love you’ll find that you experiment a lot more with it and, trust me, people will notice. You’ll be more confident, happy and comfortable.

I’ve recently been going through what they might call a “quarter life crisis” in that I realised I wasn’t happy with how I looked and started freaking out about where my life is going. However, I can only change one thing at a time so I thought I’d change my look.

The most valuable thing I have learned is how to dress for my size. As I am a buxom woman I find that tighter clothes not only make me look bigger than I am, but they also show off all my wobbly bits. Wearing baggier clothes has made me feel so much better about myself and makes me look my actual size.

Colours are so important. I realised that there are a lot of colours that are unflattering for me, and that my hair looked dull and could use some colour. This is why i dyes my hair red. It’s a deep red which is surprisingly flattering for my skin tone. It suits my face and makes it look a little less round! I find that pinks and red suit my skin tone better than blues and purples.

Jackets are something I never understood in terms of fashion, I always wore this horrible green waterproof jacket that made me look awful. When New Look started their “curves” section I was delighted and tried on many jackets, all of which were a lot more flattering than my green waterproof one. I finally decided on one (Below) and I love love love it. I’d definitely say it was when I started to take more pride in my appearance.

Last night I was feeling really down about everything and to top it all off the soles of my shoes started to come off so I knew I needed new shoes. I went in to Primark and found these (below) gorgeous shoes for Β£6 in the sales. Delighted with my bargain and they are definitely better than my old shoes.
